Hand Walker for a Woman with Multiple Fractures
A 46-year-old woman in Bhera was struggling with multiple fractures in her right leg ankle, rendering her virtually immobile and dependent on family members for the simplest daily tasks. Walking aids are expensive relative to the income of most families in the area, and without one, her recovery and independence were impossible. AIBF's disability support Pakistan programme stepped in, procuring a hand walker for Rs 5,700 and delivering it to her home. The device allowed her to begin moving independently, aiding her physiotherapy and restoring dignity to her daily life. This case is part of AIBF's broader assistive devices initiative that has donated 6 wheelchairs, hand walkers, and other mobility aids across the region. Every device is matched to the specific medical needs of the recipient, based on guidance from local doctors. AIBF's disability support Pakistan work is funded by donors who donate Pakistan their zakat specifically for healthcare and assistive devices. As a leading charity Pakistan organization in the NGO Sargodha district, AIBF ensures that mobility challenges do not condemn rural welfare Punjab residents to a life of dependence. The foundation also coordinates with free medical camp Bhera doctors for post-delivery assessments to identify mobility device needs early.
